LYRICS

1. The Journey (Chuck McDowell)

Down the dark highway, I travel on

To places I can't stay

Like the tide, I'm pulled along

Let Truth show me the way

I know I'm on this pathway

But know not when it ends

If tomorrow comes, then I'll go out

And venture once again

Each day I'm on this journey

Each day I shall roam

Each night I lay my head down

In a place that's not my home

Although I cannot see You

I feel You in my heart

My voyage will be over

When from this word I part

Each day I'm on this journey

Each day I shall roam

Each night I lay my head down

In a place that's not my home

I wander through this darkness

But travel not alone

So if you're on this sojourn too

Then I'll see you at home

Each day I'm on this journey

Each day I shall roam

Each night I lay my head down

In a place that's not my home

2. Just Don’t See (Chuck McDowell)

She goes out, online

Lookin’ for somethin’ fine

Somethin’, she can hold dear

She looks there and

I’m right here, I’m right here

Tries not to, get caught

She longs for what I’ve got

She searches, she scans

She looks there and

Here I stand, here I stand

Oh what a tangled mess we weave

Hoping someday you believe

My love, My Love, will love you through and through

I’m sitting right here in plain view

She’s ready, to start

To give someone her heart

She does not notice me

She looks good but

Just don’t see, Just don’t see

Oh what a tangled mess we weave

Hoping someday you believe

My love, My Love, will love you through and through

I’m sitting right here next to you

How can, someone who looks so good

Just not see things like they could

My love, My Love is waiting here for you

Why, am I waiting here for you

You long for something new

That’s what I’ve got for you

Look at you, look at me

You look good but

Just don’t see, just don’t see, just don’t see, just don’t see

3. The Satisfaction Song (Chuck McDowell)

Looking back to a misspent youth

Don’t have too much I can say

If I confess in a moment of truth

I am misspending still today

I can look forward, I can look back

Still not be sure where I’m at

Only time I know right where I am

Is when I let go and here I Am

Looking ahead leads to worry

Looking back leaves regret

I am what I am when I am right here

Satisfied with what I get

The advantage of looking where I am from

Is getting to see how far I’ve come

Looking ahead you can find a goal

Obsessing where you’re not can crush your soul

Looking ahead leads to worry

Looking back leaves regret

I am what I am when I am right here

Satisfied with what I get

Pursuing what won’t last as it disappears so fast

Seemed so right and now, just feels so wrong

Things I thought would please, consume me like disease

They try to make me sing that sad old song

Looking ahead leads to worry

Looking back leaves regret

I am what I am when I am right here

Satisfied with what I get

Looking ahead leads to worry

Looking back leaves regret

I am what I am when I am right here

Satisfied with what I get

I can look forward and I can look back

Still not be sure where I’m at

Only time I know just where I am

Is when I let go and here I am

When I let go I’m here I Am

I’m here I Am

4. When You Got Nothing (Chuck McDowell)

Take one, away when you have nothing

That leaves, you with a minus one

Minus one, is worse than having nothing

Owing nothing beats owing minus one

Having some, sure beats having nothing

Having some, beats owing minus one

Try to make, it work when you have nothing

Or minus one, it simply can’t be done

When you got nothing, you got nothing

Out of nothing, nothing comes

Can’t make something out of nothing

If you want something gotta find the One

To get some, and get rid of nothing

Don’t do, just look for what’s been done

You’ve got, nothing to fix nothing

To get some, it must come through the Son

When you got nothing you got nothing

Out of nothing, nothing comes

Can’t make something out of nothing

If you want something gotta find the One

If you want something gotta find the Son

5. The Awakening (Chuck McDowell)

Half of me is nothing

It’s not even half of me

All of me might be something

But it’s not all, it’s not complete

You don’t even see it

You don’t even know

That I gave myself to you

Such a long, long time ago

All of you is holding

On to something, that let you go

Tears remain from unjust pain

They left scars and they still show

You don’t even see it

You don’t even know

That I gave myself to you

Such a long, long time ago

It’s a broken world we live in

Full of broken people too

Time to believe this broken me

Will complete a broken you

You don’t even see it

You don’t even know

That I gave myself to you

Such a long, long time ago

6. Tell Me It’s Not Love (Chuck McDowell)

I watched you turn your back to me

I stood by you when I could leave

I held tight when push came to shove

Now tell me that's not love

I never left you to go it alone

'though you tried to make it on your own

Gave my all while all you did was fuss

Now tell me that's not love

Tell me that it is not enough

And tell me that it is not love

How many times must I prove to you

For you to believe it's true

There is nothing that I would not do

I would give my very life for you

There is nothing you can conceive of

To tell me it’s not love

Tell me that it is not enough

And tell me that it is not love

How many times must I prove to you

For you to believe it's true

I will be here through thick and thin

We can start all over again

An endless road we will never run out of

Now tell me that's not love

Tell me that it is not enough

And tell me that it is not love

How many times must I prove to you

For you to believe it's true

7. Guilty But Not Accused (Chuck McDowell)

When things don’t turn out right

Because the things I did are wrong

And there’s no one else to blame

‘cause I did it on my own

When life feels inside out

I’m outside looking in

It’s what’s inside that counts.

Why do I feel condemned?

How do you pay the price

How do you pay your dues

When the one who holds your fate

Holds a different point of view

You got nothing to gain
You got nothing to lose
When you find you're guilty,

But standing not accused

The one who let me go,

Is the one who brings the charge

He took it on himself

So I am living still at large

When the judge accepts the plea,

Prosecution rests its case

The charge no longer sticks

Call it mercy, call it grace

How do you pay the price

How do you pay your dues

When the one who holds your fate

Holds a different point of view

You got nothing to gain
You got nothing to lose
When you find you're guilty,

But standing not accused

The fall He took, exchanged

Much more than I am worth

What do I have to offer

Compared to everything on earth

Now I give back what I can and

When my train jumps off the track

I just keep moving on

Because I know He’s got my back

How do you pay the price

How do you pay your dues

When the one who holds your fate

Holds a different point of view

You got nothing to gain
You got nothing to lose
When you find you're guilty,

But standing not accused

You got nothing to gain
You got nothing to lose
When you find you're guilty,

But standing not accused

8. At All (Chuck McDowell)

You say there’s a distance between you and me

There’s a distance to the moon it’s far but I still see

Well the moon sees me and I can see the moon

If I see you again it will be too soon

I want you to know you don’t have to explain

Nothing you can say that could ever bring me pain

See I can’t go there at all, no not at all

You contact me out of the blue

What makes you think I want to hear from you

You say you want to see me face to face

We’re so far apart it’s like outer space

I can’t go there at all

If I’m from Mars, you’re from Jupiter

Sitting down with you couldn’t be any stupider

I can’t go there at all, no not at all

Time it tells and it tells me all I need to know

Life moves on, I’m alive and I’m on the go

I want you to know you don’t have to explain

Nothing you can say that could ever bring me pain

See I can’t go there at all

Save your time and your apologies

I’m not bothered by what you think about me

‘cause I don’t  think of you at all

No, I can’t go there at all, no not at all

9. Lost and Found (Chuck McDowell)

I was out in the garden minding my business

Then something came up and as God as my witness

Tho’ I should of known better, I went right along

Next thing you know I was on the run

I guess that’s where my troubles begun

Because it’s been a downhill spiral from that day on

Every now and then I tried to make my peace

But nothing, ever seemed to keep

I tried my best, but I always failed

Nothing seemed to work

And my buddies didn’t care

So I figured I just needed to

Get out of there

So I built me a boat and away I sailed

You ain’t got to

Do what you gotta to do

What’s done is done

It’s not up to you

Well I floated right along ‘til I hit some sticks

But I guess I was up to my same ol’ tricks

‘cause trouble, always seemed to find my way

I would stay in town ‘til my luck ran out

Then I’d up, and move about

Working like a slave and hating every single day

Well the days turned to months and the months turned to years

And my hope ran dry, and so did my tears

Life gets hard when you just stacking bricks

So made me a deal so I could leave

But the double crossing dog had tricks up his sleeve

I could feel ‘em closing in, it was time to split

You ain’t got to

Do what you gotta to do

What’s done is done

It’s not up to you

I’d see signs from time to time

Trying to get me back in line

But every climb I tried, ended with a fall

Living a life that seemed bound for jail

Everything tried was to no avail

About that time, I received a call

The fellow told me every debt I bore

I wasn’t gonna have to pay no more

He said he paid it all in one lump sum

Now the mess I made left quite a trail

With I.O.U.s and lots of fails

There’s a catch I thought, I know there’s one

You ain’t got to

Do what you gotta to do

What’s done is done

It’s not up to you

So I spilled my guts and laid it all out

Told him all I’d done and what I’d been about

He said I got this, you just trust in me

Well I didn’t understand and it didn’t make sense

Yet I knew somehow I couldn’t resist

But I believed him, and now I’m free

Well I hadn’t made it back to the garden again

But I will be on the day that I transcend

I know for a fact, I have my friend to thank

I still have ups and I still have downs

But I once was lost but now am found

I owe it all to him, for doing what I can’t

You ain’t got to

Do what you gotta to do

What’s done is done

It’s not up to you

I guess there isn’t much more, I can say

But if you feel you’re lost I can show you the way

My friend’s still here, and he’ll help you too

I know it seems like a lot to take in

But He tells it in a way you can comprehend

What’s done is done, you don’t have to do

You ain’t got to

Do what you gotta to do

What’s done is done

It’s not up to you

10. Dusty Leaves (Chuck McDowell / Robyn Taylor / Christin Rosander)

This old soul he was wise

My reflection shone in his eyes

Pain is beautiful he said to me

Your higher calling sets you free

These dusty leaves will tell me all

If I fail or if I fall

These dusty leaves and autumn gold

Tell my stories, lies, and truths untold

Pull me up from the mire

Light explodes in to fire

Never more to return

To the places I get burned

These dusty leaves will tell me all

If I fail or if I fall

These dusty leaves and autumn gold

Tell my stories, lies, and truths untold

Beautiful and dangerous

Share your love with all of us

Hide no more beneath the stone

Hear this call to come home

These dusty leaves will tell me all

If I fail or if I fall

These dusty leaves and autumn gold

Tell my stories, lies, and truths untold

11. You Know (Chuck McDowell)

You know, you know,

You know, you know, you know, you know, you know,

You know, you know,

You know, you know, you know, you know, you know,

You know, you know,

You know, you know, you know

You know the stuff you don't let show.

The stuff you don’t want others don't know.

They can't know. No one knows.

Cause you don't show.

You don't show those things you want no one to know.

But you know, you know? You know you know

No one else knows, they'll never know,

Unless, you know, you tell them so

But nooo, they cannot know.

No one can know.

No one can know what they see's just a show.

But you know. You know you know

So who knows? You know, nobody knows.

Nobody knows what they see's just a show.

There you go. Nobody knows.

Nobody knows. Nobody knows

You never know, when someone will know

You never know, what someone will know

You never know, when you’ll forget that you know

But you always gotta know, don’t let it show

Now you don’t know what you used to know.

You got it stuffed so far down there deep below

Deep down, where you hope it won't show

Now, you no longer know what you know

Do you even know where it goes, all that stuff that don’t show?

It’s stuffed away, so it’s safe, But are you?

Just because it don’t show

Man it takes lots of work to not show

You know, you know,

You know, you know, you know, you know, you know,

You know, you know,

You know, you know, you know, you know, you know,

You know, you know,

You know, you know, you know

If nobody knows that it’s all just a show

Who knows, you know? God only knows.

You know, only God knows?

God knows what you know

He sees through what you show.

That stuff you stuffed  down there so deep below,

You hope it won't show, but God knows where it goes.

Even though it don’t show, He knows. He knows

You never know, when someone will know

You never know, what someone will know

You never know, when you’ll forget that you know

But you always gotta know, God knows.

God knows and he loves you so

God knows and he still loves you so

So know He knows

and He loves you so

He knows who you are, not just what you show

That’s just something I thought you should know

You know? He’s somebody you really need to know

You know? You know you know

You know, you know,

You know, you know, you know, you know, you know,

You know, you know,

You know, you know, you know, you know, you know,

You know, you know,

You know, you know, you know
